R. Wayne Woodson is a nationally respected strategic consultant, leadership advisor, and thought partner known for helping institutions, organizations, and individuals move from intention to measurable impact. As the Founder and CEO of Woodson and Associates, Dr. Woodson has built one of the country’s leading consulting practices focused on strengthening systems, elevating leadership, and guiding clients through complex challenges with clarity and purpose.

Rooted in the mission-driven legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Dr. Woodson began his consulting work by helping HBCUs navigate enrollment shifts, accreditation demands, institutional effectiveness, fundraising growth, and organizational change. His academic research on the persistence of Black males at HBCUs, coupled with his extensive experience as a senior higher education leader, positioned him as a trusted voice in advancing student success, equity, and institutional sustainability.

As Woodson and Associates grew, so did the scope of Dr. Woodson’s influence. Today, he partners with higher education institutions, nonprofits, foundations, corporations, public health entities, and mission-driven leaders across the country. His work spans strategic planning, enrollment strategy, accreditation preparation, leadership development, diversity and inclusion strategy, crisis management, organizational effectiveness, fundraising, branding, and the emerging integration of artificial intelligence in education and business.

In addition to his consulting leadership, Dr. Woodson serves as Executive Director of The Woodson Foundation, which advances college readiness, leadership development, and student success with a special emphasis on HBCU students. His commitment to equity, access, and community empowerment continues to shape the foundation’s national footprint.

A graduate of Morehouse College, Dr. Woodson also holds advanced degrees in choral conducting and a PhD in Higher Education Leadership. His career reflects a lifelong dedication to excellence, service, and building pathways that empower people and institutions to thrive.
